Introduction of PTH 30 mg Tablet

PTH 30 mg Tablet is a medication used in the treatment of hyperparathyroidism, a condition characterized by excessive production of parathyroid hormone (PTH) by the parathyroid glands. PTH 30 mg Tablet is also prescribed for the management of hypercalcemia (high levels of calcium in the blood) in patients with parathyroid cancer or primary hyperparathyroidism.

PTH 30 mg Tablet may cause some adverse effects including vomiting, nausea, rash, headache, muscle pain, and diarrhoea. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, consult a doctor.

Before taking PTH 30 mg Tablet, inform your doctor if you have any seizures, heart-related problems or lactose intolerance, or any other health issues. You should also tell your doctor about all the other medications you are taking. If you have low levels of calcium in your body, you should not take this medicine. Your doctor may monitor your blood calcium level while on treatment with this medicine. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should ask their doctor's advice before taking this medicine.

PTH 30 mg Tablet can be taken with food or immediately after food. Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor will decide the dose and how often you should take them. You should take this medicine regularly to get the most benefit from it. Do not stop taking the medicine even if you feel better unless the doctor tells you so.

Uses of PTH 30 mg Tablet

  • Secondary Hyperparathyroidism
  • Primary hyperparathyroidism/Cancer of the parathyroid gland

Benefits of PTH 30 mg Tablet

Secondary Hyperparathyroidism: Kidney disease can cause a condition called secondary hyperparathyroidism, which can have a big impact on your health. Four small glands located behind the thyroid gland in your neck are called parathyroid glands. They make a hormone called parathyroid hormone (PTH). Normally, PTH makes sure you have just enough calcium and phosphorus in your blood to keep your bones, heart, muscles, nerves and blood vessels working well. When your kidneys are working, PTH keeps your calcium and phosphorus levels normal by moving the right amounts of calcium and phosphorus in and out of your bones. PTH 30 mg Tablet lowers PTH by telling your parathyroid glands to stop releasing too much PTH into your blood. It also lowers your blood calcium levels.

Primary hyperparathyroidism/Cancer of the parathyroid gland: Primary hyperparathyroidism is caused by an enlargement of one or more of the parathyroid glands occasionally due to cancer of the parathyroid gland. In primary hyperparathyroidism, your parathyroid glands send out too much PTH to your body and your blood level of calcium becomes high. PTH 30 mg Tablet lowers PTH by telling your parathyroid glands to stop releasing too much PTH into your blood. It also lowers your blood calcium levels.

It is very important that you follow your doctor's instructions and do not change the dosage or frequency of intake without their guidance. It may take several weeks or months for the full effects of treatment to appear, but you should not stop taking it without consulting your doctor.

How PTH 30 mg Tablet Works?

PTH 30 mg Tablet works by targeting the calcium-sensing receptors (CaSRs) on the parathyroid gland. PTH 30 mg is a calcimimetic agent, meaning it mimics the action of calcium on the parathyroid gland's CaSRs. When PTH 30 mg Tablett binds to these receptors, it activates them, leading to a decrease in the production and release of parathyroid hormone (PTH) from the parathyroid glands. By inhibiting PTH secretion, PTH 30 mg Tablet helps to reduce blood calcium levels, normalize phosphorus levels, and improve the overall mineral balance in the body.
