Introduction of Bonimet 6 mg Injection

Bonimet 6 mg Injection is used to prevent ‘skeletal events’ (fractures or bone complications requiring treatment) in patients with breast cancer and bone metastases (when cancer has spread to the bone). It is also used to treat osteoporosis (a disease that makes bones fragile) in women who have been through menopause and are at risk of developing bone fractures. Bonimet 6 mg Injection is reducing the risk of spine fractures has been shown in studies, but its effect on the risk of fractures of the neck of the femur (the top of the thighbone) has not been established.

This medicine may cause some adverse effects such as nausea, stomach pain, diarrhoea, constipation, weakness, dizziness, headache, fever, sore throat, chills, cough, and other signs of infection, frequent or urgent need to urinate painful urination. These side effects stay in a very short time period and will disappear after a short time. If they do not go away, tell your doctor. Bonimet 6 mg Injection can cause serious kidney problems, especially if you are dehydrated if you take diuretic medicine (water pills), or if you already have kidney disease. It can also cause low levels of calcium in the blood and pain in the mouth or jaw. These are serious side effects and need urgent medical attention. Tell your doctor straight away.

Before taking this medicine, you should inform your doctor about your medical history if you have any problems with your mouth or teeth such as poor dental health, gum disease, or planned tooth extraction, you are a smoker(it may increase the risk of dental problems), cancer, kidney or liver disease or any other medical complications and also inform if you are using any prescription medicines like corticosteroids such as prednisolone or dexamethasone or any non-prescription medicines like vitamins, herbals, etc. You may need frequent medical tests to check your kidney function and mineral levels. Avoid smoking or try to quit as smoking can reduce your bone mineral density, making fractures more likely. Drinking large amounts of alcohol can also cause bone loss and should be avoided.

Bonimet 6 mg Injection is not recommended for use in pregnant women and breastfeeding women. It is not recommended for using below 18 of age children. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis: Bonimet 6 mg Injection is used for the prevention of osteoporosis (a disease that makes bones fragile) in women who have been through menopause and are at risk of developing bone fractures.
