Introduction of Esentra 120 mg Injection

Esentra 120 mg Injection contains Denosumab which belongs to the group of medicines called Monoclonal antibody. Esentra 120 mg Injection is used to treat adults with advanced cancer to prevent serious complications caused by bone metastasis (Ex. fractures, pressure on the spinal cord, radiation therapy or surgery). Esentra 120 mg Injection is also used to treat giant cell tumors of the bone, which cannot be treated by surgery, especially in adults whose bones have stopped growing. Symptoms include a visible mass, bone joints being affected (fracture, fluid buildup, limited movement, swelling and pain in the joints).

Esentra 120 mg Injection may cause some common side effects of this medicine include pain in extremity, musculoskeletal pain, nerve pain, urinary tract infection, constipation, and rash. Talk to your doctor if any of these side effects does not go away with time or get worse. Your doctor may help with ways to reduce or prevent these symptoms.

Esentra 120 mg Injection is not recommended for use in patients having hypocalcemia (low calcium levels in blood) and having unhealed wounds from oral surgery. Before receiving Esentra 120 mg Injection, inform your doctor if you have any problems with your mouth or teeth (poor dental health, gum disease etc.). Esentra 120 mg Injection is not recommended among women who are pregnant. Consult your doctor for advice before receiving Esentra 120 mg, if you are breast-feeding. Esentra 120 mg Injection is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age except for adolescents with giant cell tumors of the bone whose bones have stopped growing. The most common side effects of receiving Esentra 120 mg Injection are pain in the bones, joints, muscles, shortness of breath, diarrhea, hypophosphatemia (low phosphate level), excessive sweating.

Esentra 120 mg Injection can be administered to you subcutaneously (under the skin) by a doctor or nurse. You should also take calcium and vitamin D supplements while being on treatment with Esentra 120 mg.Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

Esentra 120 mg Injection is used in the treatment of the following condition:

  • Osteoporosis
  • Bone loss due to hormonal therapy in breast or prostate cancer
  • Multiple myeloma (cancer affects plasma cells in the bone marrow)
  • Bone metastases (cancer that spreads to bone)
