Forstavir EM Tablet is a combination of two antiretroviral medicines containing emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate. It is used in the treatment of adults and adolescents (aged 12 years and older with a body weight of at least 35 kg) infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus type 1. It also helps control HIV infection and prevent the development of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
Forstavir EM does not completely cure HIV infection. It will reduce the progression of a chronic, potentially life-threatening condition known as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and other HIV-related conditions. This tablet will work by stopping the virus from multiplying in the body.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection (HIV): It is used in the treatment of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection that attacks and weakens the immune system. Take Forstavir EM Tablet with a full glass of water, with or without food. Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take it in more than the recommended dose or for a longer period of time. If you miss a dose of Forstavir EM Tablet take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the regular time. Do not take two doses at the same time to make up for a missed dose.
Forstavir EM contains emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, both are nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors. It works by inhibiting the activity of an enzyme called reverse transcriptase, which is an essential enzyme for the replication of HIV. By inhibiting reverse transcriptase, it helps to reduce the amount of HIV in the body and slow the progression of HIV infection.

It is generally not recommended to drink alcohol while taking Forstavir EM Tablet. It may increase the risk of liver damage. It is best to avoid alcohol or limit your alcohol consumption while taking this medication.
Forstavir EM Tablet is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. If you experience any side effects while taking Forstavir EM Tablet such as dizziness or drowsiness, it is important to avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until the side effects have resolved.
Forstavir EM Tablet is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney disease (creatinine clearance below 30 ml/min). Dose adjustment is not recommended in patients with creatinine clearance above or equal to 30 ml/min. While taking this tablet, closely monitor the kidney function. It is important to discuss all of your medical conditions and medications with your doctor to ensure that the treatment plan is safe and effective for you.
It is not recommended to breastfeed while taking Forstavir EM Tablet as it may pass into breast milk and harm the infant. If you are breastfeeding and taking this tablet, it is important to talk to your doctor about the possible risks and benefits of continuing to breastfeed. Your doctor will be able to help you make the best decision for you and your baby's health.
The use of Forstavir EM is considered safe during pregnancy. Taking this tablet may prevent HIV transmission from mother to child in women living with HIV.
