Merex 500 mg Injection is an Anti- Rheumatic drug. It is classified as Anti- Metabolites. It has Anti - inflammatory properties and possibly immunosuppressive effects. It is used to treat certain types of cancer, severe psoriasis, Rheumatoid arthritis which doesn't respond to other medications. Merex 500 mg Injection is available in oral and injectable form. It is a chemotherapy agent formulas known as Amethopterin. Chemical formula C20H22N8O5. Merex 500 mg Injection It is a type of DMARD ( Disease modifying Anti- Rheumatic Drug). How Merex Injection Works?

Merex 500 mg Injection inhibits DNA synthesis by competitively and irreversibly inhibiting enzyme dihydrofolate ( DHFR) which converts dihydrofolate to tetrahydrofolate essential for DNA synthesis. Suppression of Antibody production due to infusion of high doses of IVIG. Suppression of idiotypic antibodies ( idiotypic- anti idiotypic interaction regulate auto immunity). Saturation of FC receptors on macrophages ( FC receptors play role in cytotoxic cell mediated immunity and opsonization.
