Introduction of Typbar-PFS Vaccine

Typbar-PFS Vaccine is used to prevent thyroid fever, a life-threatening infection caused by Salmonella typhi. It is usually contracted from contaminated food or water and is usually fatal. This Typbar-PFS Vaccine stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies. These antibodies protect against future diseases by recognising and fighting them.

The Typbar-PFS Vaccine can cause some of the common side effects of an infection, including a chronic excessive fever, weakness, belly pain, headache, diarrhoea or constipation, cough and lack of appetite. These symptoms do not usually last for a long time. If you have any concerns about side effects it is best to have a discussion with your doctor.

In addition, it is important for you to tell your doctor about all the medicines that you are currently taking. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding you should consult your doctor before taking the Typbar-PFS Vaccine.

Typbar-PFS Vaccine is administered by a nurse in a hospital or clinic. Use of Typbar-PFS Vaccine is administered by the recommended route of intramuscular administration and should not be administered intravenously, intradermally or subcutaneously. Typbar-PFS Vaccine is usually administered at least 2 weeks prior to the expected date of exposure to typhoid fever. A single dose of Typbar-PFS Vaccine is usually given once every 3 years to people who are still at risk of getting typhoid fever. Your doctor may also have advice on the possible need for future booster doses.

Typbar-PFS Vaccine should not be recommended for use in children under the age of 2 years. Typbar-PFS Vaccine is used with caution in patients with thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) or bleeding disorders.
